Bar Exam Carrel Reservations: 2024 Bar Exam Carrel Registration

Registration

Registration: This application is the registration form for the Summer Bar Exam Carrel Lottery. The registration period will begin on May 1, 2024 and it will end on May 17, 2024. Please note that there are 48 carrels available for Bar Exam Study to 2024 WCL graduates and they will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. Due to limited seating, students will not be able to choose a particular desk or carrel. Assignments are made randomly to registrants. Carrels will be reserved from May 19 – August 5, 2024.

*Priority will be given to AUWCL 2024 graduates, but the lottery may open up to other WCL alums if carrels become open.

Students may swap carrels through Tuesday, May 21; to do so, both students must email circ@wcl.american.edu to request the swap. If a student wants to give up a carrel but not make a swap, it will go to the next person on the waitlist. Starting May 22, all carrels given up will be reassigned using the waitlist.

Reservations

Reservations: If you are assigned a carrel, your carrel will be reserved from May 19 to August 5, 2024. Students must remove all items from their carrels by the last day of their reservation. Graduates who do not need to keep their carrels through the bar examination are encouraged to contact the Circulation Desk staff (circ@wcl.american.edu) to release their carrel reservation, making the carrel available for another student.

Carrel Guidelines

Carrel Guidelines: Carrels are a privilege and must be used within the carrel guidelines. You may not leave library materials in the carrels. Please do not write on or mark the furniture in any way. Please only use post-it notes to affix anything to the carrel itself. Please note that the carrels are not secure and the University, law school, law library and Academic Excellence Staff are not responsible for items stored in carrels. Laptops and course materials should not be left unsecured in carrels. You may ask the Facilities Office about retaining your locker throughout the summer.
