Pence Law Library Circulation Desk: Reserves

Closed Reserves

Closed Reserves are heavily used materials and materials on course reserve. These materials are available at the circulation desk.

About the Reserve Room

The reserve section is located on the first floor of the library.

Popular materials are placed on reserve to ensure that all WCL students have equal access to these items. Materials in the reserve room may be checked out for a period of 3 hours.  Reserve materials may not be renewed online.

Reserve materials include:

  • Subject study guides (Examples & Explanations, Nutshells)
  • Casebooks
  • Books placed on reserve by professors (course reserves)
  • Reference materials, directories, and other high-use materials

Reserve materials must be checked out, even if you only plan to use an item for a few minutes.  Please bring all reserve materials to the circulation desk to be checked out.

Reserve Casebooks

Reserve copies of 1L casebooks are available for the convenience of students and can be checked out for a non-renewable period of 3 hours.

Students have an obligation to purchase required class texts; casebooks on reserve are not intended and should not be used as a substitute for the purchase of casebooks.

Besides purchasing new casebooks in print, students may opt to purchase used or electronic copies, or rent copies where that option is available.

Course Reserves

Professors may place items on reserve for a particular course.  These items are available either in the reserve section or at the circulation desk.

Students may search for course reserves in Leagle, the library's online catalog.  You may search by professor name, course name, or course number.  If a reserve item has a call number, it is located in the reserve section.  If a reserve item is listed as "unclassed," it is available at the circulation desk.
